The machine that cleared the path is a snowblower made specifically for sidewalks. I’ve never seen one personally, having only seen the sidewalk ploughs. They certainly do exist however, as Don has pictures of the thing.
The only thing missing from the photo is an x‑wing fighter stopping to ask for directions to the exhaust port.
