I didn’t do much of anything today, which suited me just fine. I woke up feeling like my cold might be coming back. Happily, that feeling went away soon after I started my day. I watched some television, futzed with the computer and watched two episodes of The Sopranos. Thinking that I’d better get outside given the nice weather, I went for a walk later in the afternoon. It was a lovely day. Perfect for the festivities downtown before it gets sweltering again tomorrow.

The photo is of some fireworks visible from my balcony. Someone thought it appropriate to set off some fireworks right at the side of the road. While I do question their logic, I took advantage of the placement.

Although the EXIF data says the exposure was 30 seconds long, don’t believe it. I put the camera into aperture priority, as I most often do, and set the f‑stop to 5.6. Not thinking that the nearly black sky would result in too long an exposure, I simply put my hand over the lens when I wanted the exposure to end. Unfortunately, I moved the camera in doing this so while the fireworks look fine, the lights on the background show my mistake. Ooops.

Live and learn.
