No, the neighbourhood is not on fire. It’s just really cold. If memory serves, it was −29° (−20°F) when this photo was taken at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. The moisture in furnace exhaust condenses out when cooled to this temperature. Boost the temperature to −10° and the furnace exhaust would be entirely invisible.
