I took Ghost Rider for a spin earlier this evening. I like both Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes, and the idea had potential, so why not?
Unfortunately, the reason is that I cannot recommend this film. The problem is I feel I’m doing it a disservice because there’s nothing really wrong with it. I can’t point to various aspects and say they were a mess and therefore the film is really bad.
The only real problem is the characters never managed to get me to care what happened to them, one way or another. For me, this usually kills a film for me. Some might be able to get past it.
A film with no real bad points isn’t necessarily good. Such is the case with Ghost Rider. The only positive thing I can say is the effects were pretty impressive, and that’s not nearly enough to justify two hours of my time.
Take a pass on this one.
