What day is it? I need a calendar to tell.
I was off on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this past week. Would you believe it? I had the flu. It wasn’t life-threatening, but it’s been many years since I took three days off for an illness. It figures, after all that writing about H1N1. I don’t know if that’s what I had as I didn’t go get checked. I’ve been seeing news stories about how the hospital emergency rooms are overrun with people who shouldn’t be there. CHEO in particular has seen emergency visits increase by 20%. They’re calling in extra staff and asking people to keep their children at home unless they are very sick or have breathing difficulties. Not that I’d take myself to CHEO, but I didn’t want to contribute to the burden of my doctor or any hospital. As long as I didn’t feel myself in any danger, I would ride it out.
It seems to have worked out nicely. I’m back, nearly myself again. And thank goodness. Being sick is boring.
The reason I don’t know the day is because I was off work for three days, I worked one day, and I’m off again today. The normal weekly rhythm is not like this!
