This unwieldy looking aircraft is an Embraer 190-100IGW in Air Canada livery. Embraer is a Brazilian firm and the name is short for the company’s proper name: Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica, S. A., which translates to Brazilian Aeronautics Company, Inc.
Frankly, I think it’s an unattractive aircraft. That unsightly bulge in the middle makes it look like a snake that’s swallowed an egg. Looks seem not to have mattered as Embraer has delivered more than 600 of these E-Series jets since they were introduced in 2002 and they’ve got firm orders for more than 800 others.
