This unwieldy looking aircraft is an Embraer 190 – 100IGW in Air Canada livery. Embraer is a Brazilian firm and the name is short for the company’s proper name: Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica, S. A., which translates to Brazilian Aeronautics Company, Inc.

Frankly, I think it’s an unattractive aircraft. That unsightly bulge in the middle makes it look like a snake that’s swallowed an egg. Looks seem not to have mattered as Embraer has delivered more than 600 of these E‑Series jets since they were introduced in 2002 and they’ve got firm orders for more than 800 others.

Might look ugly outside, but if it is anything like their regional jet, the competition should be real scared. They are comfortable, clean and quiet inside. I would much rather fly one of their regional jets than the crap from Bombardier.
