In a struggle to be happy and free

Drystone Wall

Can it get worse?

That’s the question I’ve asked myself perhaps a dozen times in regards to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. The truly mind-blowing thing is that it always does. Even when you think he can’t possibly stick his foot any deeper into his mouth, he does.

Take, for example, his latest and greatest screw-up. After denying everything for weeks, he finally came out today and said,

Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine.

You’d think that would be it. How could he possibly make that any worse? In response to his admission, a reporter asked, “When have you smoked crack cocaine?” His response was,

Probably in one of my drunken stupors…probably approximately about a year ago.

Zing!

The amazing thing is that he still has a 43% approval rate!?!? (well, maybe not after the latest video rant). Anyway — this approval rate is higher than the approval rate of Stephen Harper or Barak Obama and many other politicians you can think of.

I also heard today that a bunch of people were polled and asked that if Rob Ford went to rehab, would they vote for him again? The overwhelming majority said yes. Crazy times.

Btw, watch the latest video rant and then think about Motivational Speaker Matt Foley: “.…in a VAN, down by the RIVER!!”

I totally share your sense of astonishment at those who still back Ford, Julie. Totally. I understand cheering the underdog, but sometimes the underdog is that way for a good reason.

According to Twitter today, it can get worse for Toronto.
