Know thy translations

The title of the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles episode I watched earlier this week was “Gnothi Seauton.” It’s Greek for ‘Know thyself.’ The Latin is generally ‘nosce te ipsum.’ I say generally because there are often many ways to translate phrases from one language to another. For example, an alternate Latin translation, ‘temet nosce,’ appears in the oracle’s kitchen in The Matrix.
