The children being raised today may just be children forever. Given how protected and sheltered some parents, and society in general, keep children, how can they grow up? Growth comes through experience.

The earliest episodes of Sesame Street are being released and a New York Times article reports on a bizarre warning included with the first two DVD volumes: “These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”

What’s so dangerous to the kiddies? Cookie Monster, as Alistair Cookie, the host of Monsterpiece Theatre, holds a pipe and he eats it later in the skit. That’s it.

What bothers me the most about this is some people seem to have forgotten that children do some things adults don’t, and vice versa. Children need to learn this, rather than have reality hidden from them.
